Allegiance

At our local highschool, the Mexican immigrants are refusing to stand for the pledge of allegiance. They refuse to stand for the American flag. With their own Mexican flags high in their yards, and displayed from their cars, it's clear to see where there allegiance is.

My thoughts????? If they don't like what America stands for, they should GO BACK HOME.

Oh that is aggravating! And then they want all the rights of an American citizen! Unbelievable.

I thought people migrated here (legally or illegally) because they could live a better life, thus could be proud of the nation they live in. I must be wrong, eh? (of course, this isn't every immigrate either)

I'm more amazed that your local high school still stands for the pledge at all! I have a friend who also refused to say it. She says her allegiance is to Christ and nowhere else.

I'm thinking about writing a pledge of allegiance to chocolate.

I bet that they are willing to take govt. hand outs though. It is a sad state of affairs.

Wow..how incredibly disrespectful to the nation that they were probably so desperate to get to. :( I'm with you, if you hate us so badly, you know where the border is.

Amen! If people can come here (legally or illegaly) and ask for handouts and to first in line above Americans and be provided with everything shouldn't they be respectful of the country, its flag and its people?!?!

Canada can be really pathetic in this way. We allow immigrants to push us around too much and try to be overly tolerant of everyone's customs, to the point that we give up our own traditions. That bugs me. I think that one should expect to take on their new country's policies when they immigrate.

I agree with your comment Halfmoon girl. This morning, I looked at my kid's cereal, and it was in Spanish! That made me angry. Really, do we need to accomodate their unwillingness to learn our language? ~Karlie

This needs to stop and now. I'm very afraid of what's going on right now with our borders in the first place--the only reason they do not stand is because the KNOW we tolerate it. And we do. And I am very afraid of the day that could come and make us wish we could rethink our stance on illegal immigration.
