If You Open Your Mind Too Much, Your Brains Will Fall Out

Why do I even bother? Every time I go to the doctors, they just piss me off. $150 bucks got me a 10 minute visit with a doctor who cared less about the cause, than he did about sticking me on drugs. He basically said "you've got migraines, here take this drug that will cause you to be dizzy, tired, nauseated, moody, can cause severe liver disease, and maybe death!" Oh yeah! Liver disease and DEATH! Boy, that's WAY better than a headache.

So I sit here contemplating my new over advertised brand name meds. Headache relief... or death? Oh I just LOVE the drug industry! They make liver disease look good in comparison to a headache (how do they pull that off?). Hmm, I wonder if Obama hired the same advertising company? How many idiotic things will we Americans fall for?

My girls are doing sheep for 4-H this year, and the thing that amazes us is how absolutely dumb they are. They get confused walking to their own barn. They seem to live solely to appease their own comforts, They follow each other into barb wire (all for the sake of a good snack), they can't seem to figure out how to get the poop off their butts. It isn't lost on me that God compares us to sheep. We are so easily led astray. We live to serve our own flesh, we get lost.. A LOT. We are easily deceived.

In my headache fog, this post probably makes sense to no one but me, but in my semi enlightened state, I will choose today to make a stand.

No overpriced meds from my high priced drug pusher will cross my lips.

No media brain washing television will make me fall for America's left wing pretty boy.

I think I'll skip the chemistry flavored fast food meal... as well as the $2 soy isoflavanoid health food super ginko bar.

Today I could care less what Brittany Spears is doing, or what Oprah thinks.

Today I'm going to have pride in my stay at home mom, housewife job!

I think I'll skip the newspaper that paints my God as a mythological bigot, and let my Bible be my guide instead.

I'm gonna like George Bush even though that makes me SO uncool.

I'm going to believe what my military friends say over what the news feeds me ... and support this war.

Hmm, maybe today I'll just think for myself. WOW... am I aloud to do that? Today I will choose NOT to be "enlightened", but pray for wisdom instead.

My path IS narrow.

There is only ONE way to heaven.

The media does NOT have my best interest in mind.

God LOVES sheep.

Atta girl! Stick it to the man! ;)

I get headaches too. I refuse to take any medicine myself. Natural childbirth 4 times was amazing for my pain endurance. ;)

Welcome back!

You crack me up. ;)

Maybe you should go to the chiropractor. I hear they actually cure A LOT of things and since they do actually do something, their fee seems reasonable, eh?

Well, the doc wasn't very helpful, was he! Like I mentioned, I get headaches from certain foods like cheese and such- could this be the same for you?

I love your politically uncorrectness!

I have actually had a lot of relief from plain old oil of peppermint. You can get tiny little bottles of it in the grocery store where the flavorings are. Put a little on a Q-Tip and rub it all around your hairline, carefully avoiding your eyes. Lie down in a darkened room and rest for a bit. You might also try taking two aspirin, two tylenol and some caffeine (like Coke). It really does work most times and not nearly as harmful as the Rx's.

I get headaches too....mine seem to be lack of sleep/ hormone related. Doctors haven't helped much on this end either. I'm really glad to see you blogging again, though. I really enjoy your perspective on life!

Sometimes advice feels helpful and sometimes advice gets annoying so take this or not. No offense taken on my side.

An alternative to medication is to do some research and journal your food intake a bit and see if you can find anything that triggers it. Chocolate and MSG(a preservative) are two big ones for a lot of people. Migraines are no fun. I have taken medication four or five times with no side affects at all but they are incredibly expensive. Keep praying that God will show you what to do. An overdose of sleep is normally what has worked the best for me.

I pray that this goes away quickly and doesn't return.

To say that doctor's frustrate me would be a HUGE understatement. I hope you find something to help with the headaches

Maybe the stress of the move decision also has something to do with it

Allergies! One word. I had never had allergies in my life. Then about 10 years ago I started getting dizzy spells and headaches.
I would go to the doctor and same thing...Migraines. Finally after about 6 years, my new PCP actually looked at my chart (amazing)!!!!!
He said, I see you are always in here around March. Yeah? soooooo?
I think you have allergies. Not the normal kind like everybody else. Yours back up into your head instead of coming out your nose and eyes. This kind of creates a high pressure front in your head. You come in here every year about the same time. The start of allergy season.
I want you to try an over the counter antihistamine first thing in the morning when you get up. (I don't take any more after that)Then 25 mg of Amytriptaline at bed.
The second med is one of the oldest anti depressants on the planet (other than praying) They used to prescribe it to patients for depression, but found out after 60 years of use, that very lose doses help with chronic pain and allergy headaches.
It is soooooo cheap too. A month supply is like $4.00. Also,if you have a Kaiser in the area, you can walk into their over the counter pharmacy and buy 100 generic Benadryl for about $2.99. You don't even have to be a Kaiser member. The key is (I guess?) is relieving the pressure first thing in the morning before it starts. The Amytriptaline helps decompress the front temporal section and under the base of your skull around your neck. There are sinus cavities that run around the whole base of your skull.
I know, your going to say it is a drug fix. But I know other people who have experienced this type of headache for many more years than me and have had relief from the same combo.
Remember when you lived in Montana and had that headache for 2 years?
Same kind of thing really. The elevation was too high for your body to handle. In turn created basically a high pressure in your head. Same thing that internal allergies do.
Anyway, I have rambled far too long. I will tell you, IT WORKS!
Love ya and miss ya'll

Hi Karlie;

Glad to see you back...I missed you.

I'm with you...honestly, I don't get why more people don't see Oprah for who she is...scary the 'pull' (or maybe push) that she has.

I love President Bush...I pray God continues to give him wisdom and protection-may our next President be a God seeker too. (I am not fond of the pretty boy either...the slips make me wondering what is really on his heart and mind.)

Amen! and...

About 8 years ago, I suffered from a headache that lasted 2 or 3 months. I saw a nice neurologist who, instead of prescribing drugs, mentioned that magnesium deficiency is a really common trigger for that type of headache, especially in women. I faithfully started taking a good multi-vitamin and made a point of eating lots of magnesium rich foods (legumes, nuts, whole grains, and leafy greens). It went away soon after and I've never had anything like that again. I really hope you feel better!
